JOIN THE
2027 TEAM

We love having a vibrant, energetic and eager to learn team on the farm, do you want to be part of building a beautiful future? Time at Henbant can teach you much more than going veg, moving cows and planting trees, it's a whole life experience.

Henbant Residencies 2027

Come and help grow a beautiful future!

An immersive residential experience in regenerative farming, rewilding, permaculture, practical skills and community living, on the beautiful Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales.

What if we could build a different kind of future? One where farming restores the natural world, grows wonderful food, creates meaningful livelihoods and helps communities thrive?

And what if we could learn how to do it together?

At Henbant, we're trying to do just that.

We believe that real change comes from getting involved. From working alongside people who care deeply about what they're doing, getting our hands dirty, asking questions, experimenting, making mistakes, sharing ideas and discovering new possibilities.

Our Henbant Residency, hosted by Dysgu Henbant CIC, offers an opportunity to spend an extended period living and learning as part of our community, immersed in regenerative agriculture, ecological restoration, low-impact living and the everyday adventure of trying to create a better future.

This is about much more than learning how to grow vegetables, look after cattle or plant trees. It's about discovering new ways of thinking, living and working together. Developing the skills, confidence, friendships and connections to make a difference wherever life takes you next.

A living, learning landscape

Henbant is a small, diverse regenerative farm and learning centre overlooking the mountains of Eryri and the Irish Sea.

We're exploring what happens when regenerative agriculture, rewilding, permaculture and community come together.

There's a thriving market garden, holistically managed livestock, woodland, agroforestry, wildlife habitats, a growing nature recovery programme, and a community of people coming here to learn, connect and imagine different futures.

Through Dysgu Henbant CIC, our community education organisation, we create opportunities for people to reconnect with nature, develop practical skills and become part of positive change.

Henbant isn't a finished project. It's a living experiment. There are always things to build, ideas to test, ecosystems to restore and better ways of doing things to discover.

And that's what makes it such an exciting place to learn.

How the residency works

The Henbant Residency is a fully immersive, practical experience.

We believe that some of the most important learning happens through doing. By joining a team, working alongside experienced practitioners, gradually developing skills and confidence, and discovering how everything connects.

Residents should expect to be actively involved in the life and projects of Henbant, normally across five days each week.

This isn't a conventional classroom course, or simply a place to stay. It's an opportunity to become part of a community doing meaningful things, to participate wholeheartedly, and to shape your own learning through practical experience.

Find your place

At the beginning of your residency, we'll explore your interests, experience and ambitions together.

You'll have the opportunity to follow one or more pathways, depending on what excites you most and which projects are happening at Henbant.

The Growing Team

Explore regenerative horticulture, soil health, seed propagation, composting, food production, perennial crops and the practical rhythms of a productive market garden.

The Rewilding and Nature Recovery Team

Get involved in woodland creation, agroforestry, habitat restoration, biodiversity monitoring, water management and our developing landscape-scale nature recovery projects, including our ambitions for beavers.

The Regenerative Livestock Team

Explore holistic grazing, pasture ecology, animal welfare, regenerative livestock systems and the relationships between animals, soils, biodiversity and food production.

The Natural Building and Practical Projects Team

Develop practical skills through low-impact building, carpentry, creative construction, renewable energy, appropriate technology and other projects that help Henbant evolve.

The Community and Education Team

Explore outdoor education, nature connection, community food systems, events, storytelling and the work of Dysgu Henbant CIC in helping people imagine and build a different future.

These aren't rigid departments. Henbant works as a whole system, and part of the experience is discovering how everything connects.

You'll be encouraged to explore different aspects of the farm and learning centre, while having opportunities to immerse yourself more deeply in the areas that interest you.

Develop your own projects

One of the things we're most excited about is helping residents move from learning alongside others to developing ideas and projects of their own.

Perhaps you'd like to design an agroforestry system, experiment with a new growing method, create a wildlife habitat, build something beautiful, develop a community project or explore an entirely new idea.

As your confidence grows, we'll help you identify opportunities to take initiative, experiment, solve problems and make something happen.

We want Henbant to be a place where you can test ideas, find your strengths and discover what you're capable of.

We hope that by the end of your residency, you'll have something meaningful to look back on, whether that's a project you've helped bring into being, a new skill, or a much clearer sense of the future you want to create.

Learning opportunities

One of the extraordinary things about Henbant is the range of people who come here to share ideas and experience.

Throughout the year, Dysgu Henbant CIC hosts courses, workshops, talks and gatherings exploring regenerative agriculture, permaculture, nature recovery, food systems and the skills we need for a flourishing future.

Residents can apply to attend eligible Dysgu Henbant training opportunities free of charge, subject to availability.

These may include elements of our Becoming a Regenerative Farmer programme, practical workshops, specialist talks and other educational events.

Participation in these formal training opportunities is entirely optional. We want residents to choose the learning experiences that are most relevant to their interests, rather than follow a compulsory curriculum.

Learning also happens in less formal ways: over shared meals, during conversations, through practical projects and by spending time with the remarkable range of people who visit Henbant.

Living at Henbant

Henbant is as much a community as it is a farm.

Residents become part of a small group of people sharing food, ideas, adventures, practical experiences and everyday life.

We provide a private living space, alongside shared facilities and communal food.

Much of the food we eat is grown or produced here, and cooking and eating together is an important part of the experience.

There's time for friendship, conversation, creativity, exploring the coast and mountains, and finding a place for yourself within the wider community.

Community life involves mutual respect, kindness, initiative and a willingness to help look after the spaces we share.

We don't expect everyone to be the same. We love people bringing different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives and passions.

We hope Henbant becomes somewhere you feel at home.

Who is it for?

We're looking for people who are curious about the world, excited by the possibilities of a regenerative future and enthusiastic about becoming part of a small, active community.

You don't need to arrive knowing how to farm, build or manage land.

Far more important are openness, kindness, curiosity, practical enthusiasm, initiative and a willingness to get involved.

The residency might suit someone who wants to:

  • Explore a future in regenerative farming, horticulture, ecological restoration or outdoor education.

  • Build confidence and practical skills through real projects.

  • Experience the possibilities of permaculture and whole-systems thinking.

  • Live more closely with the land, the seasons and a supportive community.

  • Develop ideas that could grow into their own projects or livelihoods.

  • Spend a meaningful period questioning, experimenting and imagining a different future.

We're interested in people at different stages of life, whether you're just starting out, considering a change of direction or bringing experience of your own.

You don't have to know exactly where you're going. Sometimes discovering that is the most important part of the journey.

Paid work opportunities

We recognise that not everyone has the financial freedom to spend an extended period on an unpaid residency, and we don't want money to be a barrier to joining us.

A limited amount of paid work is available through Henbant Ltd, paid at the National Living Wage, for residents who need to earn some income during their stay.

Paid work is arranged separately from the Dysgu Henbant residency, with agreed hours and responsibilities, and is subject to availability.

We want Henbant to be a place where people from all sorts of backgrounds can come together to learn, contribute and grow.
